Despite losing the NBA championship to the Golden State Warriors in six games, the prospects for the Boston Celtics look bright on the surface.

After losing in the Eastern Conference Finals three times in four years, they finally made it to the NBA Finals, and with a mostly young team, they have room to grow.

However, the room for improvement is that it usually means the team has flaws that prevent it from getting to the top of the mountain.

In the case of the Celtics, these shortcomings could prevent them from even returning to the championship streak next season.

Right now, if one had to bet on Boston or the field to reach the 2023 NBA Finals, it would make sense to bet on the field.

Celtics need more attacks

AT Jason Tatum as well as Jaylen Brownthe Celtics have two of the brightest young stars in professional basketball, and both could improve over the next few years before they start reaching their best.

Brown played well against Stephen Curry and company, averaging 23.5 points per game.

Tatum, on the other hand, was pretty terrible.

He scored just 36.7 percent in the final, and in five of the six competitions he scored less than 43 percent, proof that he’s not quite a superstar yet.

Tatum has proven he’s capable of leaving at a moment’s notice and helping his team out, but he still can’t consistently put together great results, especially in terms of his shooting efficiency.

The Warriors exposed the Celtics as a two-horse offensive gang.

watch over Marcus Smart played well, but overall he’s an underperforming player who doesn’t pose a serious, ongoing scoring threat, and Boston’s bench looked awfully weak.

Defense is still the key to winning a championship despite those who erroneously claim that nobody plays defense in today’s NBA, but offense is just as important and a team cannot win a world championship in this day and age. without being gorgeous on both ends.

The Celtics need more role players to contribute to the offense, and a legitimate third scorer will also go a long way in boosting their chances of winning an 18th NBA title.

The biggest problem next year may not be themselves.

Even if Boston comes out and makes the improvements needed to overcome the hump, it still might not be enough.

That’s because their biggest threat to return to the Finals comes from the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks won it all last year, and this year many believe that Chris Middleton did not hurt his knee in the first round of the playoffs, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the company would have eliminated the Celtics in the second round.

It’s just that the Bucks have a more cohesive team as they have three legitimate scorers, and Antetokounmpo is clearly not only better than Tatum, but possibly the best player in the world.

One would expect Milwaukee to enter next season hungry after losing to the Celtics in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals, and that could be the edge needed to return to glory.
