The reigning Big West champions, the UCSB men’s soccer team, have released their schedule for the fall 2022 season.
The 20-match roster includes two preseason exhibitions and 12 home competitions, one of which will be the Gauchos’ non-conference final at Harder Stadium against Stanford.

UCSB kicks off its year with a pair of pre-season shows in mid-August, when Gaucho fans will see some new faces join the returning roster, which includes 2021 All-Big West selection Finn Ballard McBride, Sam Fletcher, and Defensive Player of the Year Henry. Davis, among others. Gauchos open in San Jose State on August 14th. On August 20, they will face Westmont in their annual Community Shield Game at home.
Their first regular season competition will be played on the road on Aug. 25 against Missouri State, which has competed in three consecutive NCAA Tournaments. Three days later, UCSB hosts the California Baptist (August 28) in its home regular season opener.
The Gauchos will stay at home for four of the first five games in September. They will face Cornell for the second year in a row on Friday, September 2, this time on their home ground as they look to rewrite last year’s seven-goal thriller.
On September 4, UCSB will play its final non-conference road game at Loyola Marymount. The Gauchos will then return to the home stands for three games, including: in Oregon on September 9; Utah Valley 9/11; and Grand Canyon for AYSO Team Parade Night on September 17th.
The Blue-Greens rivalry kicks off at the Big West Conference on Wednesday night at California Proving Ground on September 21, with the Gauchos looking to extend their five-game unbeaten streak over the Mustangs.
They return home for their non-conference final on September 24, when they welcome the Stanford Pac-12 School into town for what has to be one of the most exciting games of the year on paper. The Cardinal has failed to win either of his last two trips to Santa Barbara, the latter of which ended in a 3-3 tie when he was ranked No. 1 in the nation.
The conference will resume with two more home matches. The first will take place on September 28 against UC San Diego. The second will take place on October 1 in the SBSC Night match against CSUN.
After a short trip to CSU Bakersfield on October 5, UCSB hosts Cal State Fullerton on October 8.
The midweek meeting in Sacramento State (Oct. 12) will precede the rematch in the 2021 Big West Championship game against UC Irvine on Oct. 15, as the Gauchos will face the Anteaters for the first time since their 4-0 victory in last year’s title. conformity.
On October 19, UCSB will host UC Davis, and on October 22, the blue-and-green rivalry will rekindle in the Gauchos’ home final, one of the loudest nights of the year at Harder Stadium. Seven days after that, they travel to UC Riverside for their last match before the tournament game.
The Big West Tournament kicks off with the quarter-finals on November 2nd. The semi-final will take place on November 5, while the Big West Championship is scheduled for November 13. The NCAA tournament starts on November 17th.
