RRR

PPP – Image: DVV Entertainment
Acquired by Netflix internationally as an original title following its explosive theatrical run in India, RRR has broken out of India to perform well and generate worldwide hype, even making it into the US Netflix Top 10.
Polygon included this name in their top movies in 2022 and perhaps gives the perfect summary of why this movie should be on your watchlist:
“RRR is the biggest, loudest, most bombastic movie likely to hit theaters this year. The film’s historical fantasy is about two Indian men living on opposite sides of the British occupation of the country in the 1950s – or so they think. Both go on parallel secret missions, but eventually the two men unite through their courage and strength and form a friendship strong enough to liberate the entire country.”
Fuss
Producer: Jeremiah Tan
Starring: Adam Sandler, Queen Latifah, Ben Foster, Juancho Hernangomez, Robert Duvall

IMDb rating: 7.4/10

Hustle starring Adam Sandler – Image: Netflix
Adam Sandler’s acting prowess has been on full display in recent years as the star transitioned from the comedies that made his career to more mature performances that now include Fuss exclusively on Netflix.
RottenTomatoes Consensus per Fuss where Sandler plays Stanley Sugarman, a basketball scout who is out of luck and in need of a big break, looks like this:
“The hustle doesn’t have any fancy moves, but it doesn’t need them – Adam Sandler’s charm makes this simple layout fun to watch.”
The good news is that Sandler will return in the future for other Netflix projects, including another, what we would call “serious” performance in the form of an adaptation. Astronaut of Bohemia.
Bombardment
Producer: Ole Bornedal
Starring: Alex Hoeg Andersen, Danika Curcic, Caspar Phillipson
RottenTomatoes rating: 100%
IMDb rating: 7.3

Also known as Shadow in my eye or Skyggen i mit øje in Denmark, where the movie originates from, this heartbreaking film tells some of the untold stories of World War II, especially in my home country of the United Kingdom. This is because it paints a rather bleak picture of the RAF conducting a bombing raid called “Operation Carthage” that destroyed the school.
Reviews of the film are rave, especially highlighting the excellent performances of some of the young actors.
Roger Moore of Movie Nation perhaps best summarizes the film with a summary of his review of The Anguished.
Apollo 10½: space age childhood
Producer: Richard Linklater
Starring: Jack Black, Milo Coy, Zachary Levi, Lee Eddy
RottenTomatoes rating: 91%
IMDb rating: 7.3

Written and directed by Richard Linklater, best known for adolescence, awakening life as well as Until midnightthis beautiful animated movie is not only one of the best movies of 2022, but also one of the best animated movies that Netflix has ever released under its banner.
The film tells two intertwined perspectives on the first moon landing in the summer of 1969, showing both the effort put into making the event happen and how it affected a little boy watching from afar.
Certified Fresh at RottenTomatoesHere’s the critical consensus:
“The sweet nostalgia of Apollo 10 1/2: Space Age Childhood shows how Richard Linklater reuses visual and thematic ingredients in deeply personal, fresh inspiration.”
Saved by Ruby
Producer: Katt Shea
Starring: Grant Gustin, Scott Wolf and Kayla Zander
RottenTomatoes rating: 100%
IMDb rating: 7.2

Good movies and shows are a sure way to get good audiences and reviews. Saved by Ruby not an exception. In this biopic, Grant Gustin swaps out his spandex superhero costume from The Flash for a police uniform.
The film revolves around a state soldier who dreams of transferring to the K-9 unit but faces an uphill struggle to get there.
William Bibbiani for The Wrap said:
“Bright colors, wide angles and many episodes of Doggy Vision never let us forget for a minute that there is nothing scary in this world, although we know for sure that there are many killers in it.”
House
Producer: Emma De Swaef, Niki Lindroth von Bahr and Paloma Baeza
Starring: Mia Goth, Matthew Goode, Claudie Blakely
Rotten Tomatoes: 97%
IMDb rating: 6.8

Three anthology stories set in different time periods effectively play out in this stop-motion animated film that will leave you with many questions after the credits. Each of the stories is completely separate and has only one thing in common – the house in which they live.
While the film certainly didn’t hit Netflix with much fanfare, critics loved it and Netflix hopes it wins an Emmy Award for Outstanding TV Movie.
Maria E. Gates of The Playlist briefly summarized why the film is so compelling. talking movie “A vivid demonstration of the exceptional talents of directors and the limitless possibilities of stop-motion animation.”
Munich: edge of war
Producer: Christian Shvokhov
Starring: George MacKay, Jennis Nivoner, Jeremy Irons
RottenTomatoes rating: 86%
IMDb rating: 6.8

Photo: Turbine Studios / Netflix
Our list ends with a biopic about the events leading up to World War II. The story mainly follows two high school friends who find themselves on opposite sides of the table (one with the British and the other with the Germans) but end up trying to make a deal behind their leaders’ backs.
While the film is by no means a traditional World War II film, it does have excellent performances by the entire cast, fleshing out events and providing additional context as to why such actions were taken (albeit controversial actions).
Project Adam
Producer: Shawn Levy
Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Walker Scobell, Mark Ruffalo
RottenTomatoes rating: 68%
IMDb rating: 6.7

While it doesn’t do well with critics, thanks to its star power and the fact that it does exactly what it says on the tin, Project Adam deserves a place on this list.
The sci-fi family comedy follows a fighter pilot from the future who travels back in time to enlist the support of his youngest self to save the future.
