Spider Head received mixed reviews

There may be many viewers, but not everyone is sure how to relate to Spider. The film received rather mixed reviews, earning a disappointing 44% Rotten Tomatoes score. Audience scores fared even worse, earning a rotten 35% rating. For what it’s worth, our own Julian Roman enjoyed the film, while noting that it didn’t quite live up to its potential.

“Hemsworth likes to play against type as a villain,” Roman said of Hemsworth’s performance. “He chews on the screen with prancing and grinning shenanigans. Hemsworth embodies the cold intelligence of cruelty for the greater good.”

Roman added: “Joseph Kosinski adds frivolity to exacerbate strange circumstances. His choice of upbeat 80s pop classics helps build tension as the situation unfolds. Spider has an interesting tone for two-thirds of the runtime. My hopes for a clever climax were not justified. The sudden ending, unfortunately, becomes a victim of standard action films.

Despite mixed reviews, the release Spider attracting that many viewers should be seen as a win for Netflix. It’s also good news for Hemsworth, who is getting even more attention ahead of the film’s release. Thor: Love and Thundermaking Hemsworth the only Marvel Cinematic Universe actor to appear in four solo superhero films. Spider now streaming on Netflix as well Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.
