The Korean drama pipeline continues to roll out new shows, and fans around the world are counting down the clock this week until the world premiere of the latest show, “Alchemy of Souls.”
“Alchemy of Souls,” starring popular Lee Jae Wook, Jung So Min, and Hwang Min Hyun, has become one of the most anticipated dramas of this summer.
However, with fans of Korean dramas in almost every corner of the world, many are curious about when ‘Alchemy of Souls’ will be released for international streaming on Netflix and how many episodes will the first season consist of?

What is Alchemy of Souls about?
“Alchemy of Souls,” also known as “The Marriage of the Soul” or “Return,” is an upcoming fantasy drama from the Hong sisters (Hong Jong Eun and Hong Mi Ran), the duo behind “Hotel Del Luna” and “Korean Odyssey.”
Set in the fictional country of Daeho, Alchemy of Souls tells the story of Jang Wook, the son of a powerful family in the country. Chang Wook is widely known as a troublemaker, and the locals constantly gossip about the unpleasant secret of his birth.
However, his luxurious life is about to be turned upside down when one day he encounters an elite warrior trapped in the body of a blind woman named Moo Deok.
After some persuasion, Moo-Dok agrees to become his servant, but on one condition that they can learn to fight in secret.

Interestingly, director Park Jung Hwa has already hinted that a second season is in the works. Korean Herald that “The writers are currently working on the second part. I hope we have more time to explore each individual character in detail.”

Alchemy of Souls: New Korean Drama Release on Netflix
The alchemy of souls is Planned will be released both domestically in South Korea and overseas on Netflix on Saturday, June 18th.th.
Episode 1 will premiere first on the South Korean television network tvN at 9:10 pm KST, and a few hours later on the streaming platform Netflix.
Neither Netflix nor the Alchemy of Souls showrunners have confirmed the exact time for the world premiere of the first episode; however, simulcast Korean dramas are usually released one hour after the credits have gone domestic.
Based on the release of previous simultaneous Korean dramas on Netflix, Alchemy of Souls Episode 1 is expected to release around the following international times:
- Pacific Time – 7:00
- Eastern time – 10:00
- British time – 15:00
- European time – 16:00
- India time is 19:30.
- Philippine time – 22:00
- Australian time is 23:30.
How many episodes are in the first season of Alchemy of Souls?
‘Alchemy of Souls’ will have a fairly unique number of episodes compared to the vast majority of current Korean dramas.
In an interview with Korean HeraldDirector Park Jung Hwa has revealed that the first season of “Alchemy of Souls” will consist of a whopping 20 episodes!
“When the Hong sisters wrote the script, we discussed a lot of interesting stories about different families, characters and their development. Unfortunately, I thought that 20 episodes would not be enough to really show the strengths of the writers who create very entertaining and comical stories.” – Director Park Joon-hwa, via Korean Herald
