Netflix denies Knives Out 2 release date report
Netflix has denied rumors that Knives Out 2, now officially titled Glass Bow: The Mystery of Knives, has a Thanksgiving release date.
Netflix denies information about Glass Bow: Mystery of KnivesRelease date. In 2019, after completion of work on Star Wars: The Last Jediprolific director Rian Johnson wowed audiences with his all-star detective. Get the knives. The original film was a critical and commercial hit, even receiving Oscar nominations. Following the film’s resounding success, Johnson immediately set to work on a sequel, with Daniel Craig joining his role as master detective Benoit Blanc. Currently, Get the knives 2officially named Glass Bow: Mystery of Knives we will see how Benoit from Craig investigates a new case in the Mediterranean. Also starring Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Madeleine Kline, Jessica Henwick and Ethan Hawke.
Johnson and producer Ram Bergman bought the rights to the planned sequels from other distributors without input from the original Lionsgate and MRC studios. Following a competitive war, Netflix acquired these rights in March 2021 in a massive $469 million deal. Subsequently, filming began Get knives 2 in June 2021, and since then there have been various reports regarding the film’s release date. Previously it was stated that Get knives 2 will be released in November or December 2022, although in the following, most of the film’s logo designers (Instagram user @the.made.shop) have assumed that the film will be released on this Thanksgiving Day.
Currently, ComicBook.com reports that Glass Bow: Mystery of Knives has not yet received a release date from Netflix. The confirmation came from the streaming giant itself, which discredited the logo designer’s post as inaccurate. No other details have been made public, and Netflix has not confirmed that the film is still in the pipeline for a 2022 release.
One of the reasons that seems to be holding Netflix back from setting a premiere date Get knives 2 is that the film’s release window remains controversial. Netflix is reportedly eyeing a theatrical release for Get knives 2, after which it will be available for streaming on its platform. The streamer is in talks with movie theater chains like AMC, hoping to secure the once-maligned 45-day exclusivity window that has become increasingly standard since the start of the pandemic. The move comes as Netflix reported a loss of subscribers for the first time in 10 years in April. Now the streamer is changing strategy, introducing cheaper subscription tiers with ads and cutting back on high-budget projects.
With Netflix’s dwindling subscriber base, it makes sense to carefully consider your release roadmap. Get knives 2. Perhaps the theatrical release will help the streamer secure distribution deals and also generate ticket revenue for movie theaters hit by the pandemic. But if Netflix wants to release the movie this year, they need to act fast. Original Get the knives the film made a significant profit in part because it was released over the holidays, so if Netflix wants to capitalize on the same strategy, it needs to announce a release date for Get knives 2 in the coming months and immediately start an advertising campaign. Otherwise, the streamer can also open the film at the film festival first and earn some awards chatter from it. No matter which game plan Netflix decides to follow for Glass Bow: Mystery of Kniveshe has to move fast for the movie to start talking.
