NBA Rumors: Pacers Testing Miles Turner Market? Gonzaga Star Center Chet Holmgren Prefers Thunder?

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The rumor mill is humming ahead of the 2022 NBA draft.

The Warriors’ NBA Finals victory over the Celtics ends the NBA playoffs. They are now joining the league’s other 29 teams, focusing solely on making decisions about their rosters for the 2022-23 season. With the draft set for Thursday, June 23, there’s plenty of time to shake things up before the first pick is announced.

In most of the fake NBA drafts that came out before the real drafts came out on June 23, the top three players are (in no particular order) Auburn’s Jabari Smith Jr., Duke’s Paolo Bankero, and Gonzaga’s Chet Holmgren. Any of the three can be taken by the first Orlando, but Holmgren prefers to go No. 2 to Oklahoma City instead.

On the On Thursday’s episode of his podcast, Ryan Russillo discussed where Holmgren fits best. and shared that the big man has preferences.

“They want to go to Oklahoma City because… [of] opportunities, and he has a lot more freedom because of the list in front of him than maybe he would have in Orlando. … It’s a preference that I’ve heard about, and from a basketball standpoint, it makes a lot of sense that I’m being taken along but also getting more opportunities.”

Rudy Gobert’s name has been floating around in numerous trade rumors since the Jazz lost to Dallas in the first round in six games. According to ESPN’s Tim McMahon, The Jazz would part ways with a three-time Defensive Player of the Year just for something big in return.

“There are rumors in the league that Rudy Gobert will be traded this summer. writes McMahon. “But the Jazz have sent strong signals that they will not accept anything short of a major trophy in exchange for a multi-year All-Star center.”

We know the Utah are more inclined to trade Gobert than Donovan Mitchell, but Sarah Todd of the Deseret News thinks the Jazz can keep both players.

“I wouldn’t be too used to the idea that the Jazz would trade one of the two just yet,” Todd writes. “Reports that the Jazz may be looking to retain Gobert and Mitchell for the year the team hosts the All-Star Game should be taken seriously.”

According to Jake Fisher of Bleacher Report Indiana Pacers look to add another first round player go with their pick #6. From the looks of it, they might be willing to give up Miles Turner to get him.

“Indiana took the market for Miles Turner extensively before the 26-year-old’s season ended due to a stress response in his left leg,” Fisher writes. “The Pacers have since reopened pre-draft trade talks for Turner, sources told B/R, in addition to bringing opposing front offices to point guard Malcolm Brogdon.”

One potential destination for Turner could be Charlotte. The Hornets have two first-round linebackers, Nos. 13 and 15, and have “let the entire league know they are ready to reschedule the No. 15 pick.” according to league sources.
