The biggest players in the NBA and Western conferences, Los Angeles Lakersare in desperate need of reinforcements this summer. Consequently, they turned their attention to Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal.
According to Kevin O’Connor of The Ring, the Showtime franchise wants to add a three-time All-Star quarterback to its roster. A possible package for Beal could include Russell Westbrook and a couple of picks. O’Connor said:
“The only name I’ve heard recently is Bradley Beal as another guy they want. I’m not sure the interest will be as mutual. You know, Beale, it looks like Miami would be the bigger threat to take him.” from Washington. I don’t think you can also rule out Boston because of his relationship with Jason Tatum, but the Lakers are trying to use some of those moves by using Russ’s expiring term and first results on ’27 and ’29.”
The Los Angeles Lakers made changes to the franchise after a disappointing campaign in which they didn’t even make it to the Play-In tournament despite entering the season with championship hopes. Frank Vogel has been replaced by Darwin Ham and the Lakers are looking to improve their roster.
Should the Los Angeles Lakers buy Bradley Beal?
Washington Wizards best player Bradley Beal is at a crossroads in his career. In the summer, he will have to make an important decision about his future and whether it will be associated with a team from the capital of the country or elsewhere.
Beal’s current contract expires at the end of the 2022/23 season. At that point, he will become an unrestricted free agent and will be able to sign contracts with anyone. He earns just over $33 million this season and is projected to make over $36 million next season. However, the deal for next season is up to the player. It is not yet clear whether he chose to log in or not.
Beal would add some much-needed perimeter shooting to the Los Angeles Lakers, even though he’s shot less than 35% from three in the past two seasons. Another aspect of having a man like Beal is the fact that he can play without the ball, since the main ball handler can always be LeBron James.
Beal’s trade would have included Russell Westbrook and a pair of first-round picks. Westbrook had already played in the nation’s capital and was adored there for one season when they made it to the playoffs.
Either way, the Los Angeles Lakers are certainly one of the many contenders for Beal this season, with the Lakers front office running out of work if they want to sign the three-time All-Star.
