The Golden State Warriors were a great team a few years ago when they won three NBA championships in four seasons, but now they are a true dynasty.

By beating the Boston Celtics in six games in the NBA Finals, they’ve certainly earned their flowers more than ever before, and even those who questioned the legitimacy of their first three titles are coming to their senses.

This means that not only Stephen Curry, Clay Thompson as well as Draymond Green four world champions, but also a head coach Steve Kerr.

Kerr has been at the helm of Golden State since the 2014-15 season, when they first won it all with such a ball, and it’s clear he’s more than lucky to coach great talent.

Should Kerr now be considered one of the five greatest head coaches in NBA history?

Kerr turned the Warriors from good to great

Before the Warriors hired Kerr, they were a good team that made the playoffs but lost early.

They were coached by a former player Mark Jackson from 2012 to 2014, and although he was considered a good coach, the team clearly had a ceiling under him.

Under Jackson, the Warriors were very strong defensively, but they were a little outdated offensively as they reverted to isolated basketball too often.

But under Kerr, the Warriors quickly jumped from 12th to second in offensive rankings.

He opened a criminal case that combined the principles of Gregg Popovich and Phil Jacksonlegendary coaches he played with during his NBA career, and he started using Curry off the ball a lot more.

Kerr also made Golden State become a fast-breaking team, and that’s how they went from 104.3 ppg to 110.0 ppg.

With their defensive culture already largely established, the Warriors’ new and improved offense has made them a force to be reckoned with.

He got warriors through adversity

After Golden State won the 2018 championship, it looked like a budding dynasty, but it soon ran into trouble.

superstar next season Kevin Duran he seemed to have one foot out the door, with Green publicly criticizing what he saw as Durant’s lack of commitment to the team.

The Warriors lost in the NBA Finals, where Durant tore his Achilles and Thompson tore his cruciate ligament.

At the start of the following season, Curry suffered a serious hand injury that caused him to throw off the balance of the schedule.

The Golden State dynasty seemed to be dead.

But Kerr took the opportunity to develop young players on the roster in the first place. Jordan Poolas well as Andrew Wiggins.

When the Warriors first traded for him, Wiggins was thought to be a square peg in a round hole, but he has greatly improved his three-point shooting and defense.

Now Kerr has won it all with a completely different supporting cast from a few years ago.

One of the hallmarks of a great coach is the ability to achieve huge success on different teams, or at least different configurations of the same team, and Kerr did just that.

If Jackson, Popovich, Pat Riley and Red Auerbach are considered the greatest coaches in NBA history, what stops Kerr from finishing fifth on this list?

Despite having a new group of guys, he still got the Warriors to finish first in the defensive rankings this season, after finishing fifth in that category last year.

It’s clear that Kerr supports the win culture in Northern California, no matter who suits him.
