Let’s move on to transfers:

In a six yard box

The loudest transfer stories of the day. These are deals that are happening, or at least on the verge of being made.

Romelu Lukaku’s future to be decided soon

According to CBS Sports insider Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have laid out the terms of Lukaku’s loan return to Inter Milan. The Blues would like to receive a €10 million loan fee, which also includes add-ons, but they are not sure if there will be an opportunity to buy after all. Lukaku’s contract is onerous after he returned to Chelsea last summer for a club-record £97.5m fee after scoring just eight league goals.

Lukaku publicly pushed for a move to Inter and Chelsea would be happy to take his salary off the books, so Inter were able to firmly insist on the loan fees they were willing to pay and just wait for Chelsea to give the go-ahead. and green light move. The question then becomes how Chelsea will replace Lukaku and as we’ll talk later, Raheem Sterling seems like an attacking option.

Entrance to the penalty area

These transfers may be unavoidable, but there’s a lot of transfer fire in all the smoke these players and teams can blow.

Borussia Dortmund close to agreeing to pay Sebastian Haller

More than one player is needed to replace Erling Haaland and Borussia have presented Ajax with a €33m offer for Haller for Mike Verwij. Dortmund have already added talented youngster Karim Adeyemi from RB Salzburg, while Haller will present a more experienced option. He ends an impressive season in Amsterdam, where he scored 21 goals, provided seven more assists and is also in contention for the Champions League golden boot with 11 goals in eight games. Haller and Dortmund have not yet discussed personal terms, but this deal could take place in the next few days.

Building up the game

These steps may be speculative, but they need to be monitored.

Chelsea chase Raheem Sterling

There is a fairly large gap between announced an initial offer of €25 million plus add-ons and the City are asking around 55-60 million euros. With Sterling only one year left on his contract, City are willing to let him go, but their asking price seems higher than what Chelsea need to invest in attacking even if they let Lukaku go. If Timo Werner moves, Sterling and Christian Pulisic could have room to coexist, but if Werner stays, it’s hard to see how this deal will work out.

Another reason City don’t mind letting Sterling go is because Approaches to the young Argentine Julian Alvarez are rejected left and right. More than five clubs have asked for him on loan after a hot start at River Plate, where Alvarez scored 17 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions. But if Pep Guardiola thinks Alvarez can help City now, it will make it easier to lose Sterling.
