Everything we know about Netflix’s Bodkin – The UBJ – United Business Journal

Bodkin, a new series from Higher Ground Productions, has already received Netflix approval. Here’s what we currently know about the Netflix series Bodkin, which has now revealed some of the cast.
Bodkin (wt), a dark comedy thriller written and directed by Jez Scharf (Mister Biscuits, The UnDream), follows a ragtag group of podcasters who embark on an investigation into the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in a picturesque seaside Irish village.

Who is behind the Netflix series Bodkin?

Along with Alex Metcalfe, Jez Scharf will co-showrunner and head writer of the show. Perhaps Scharf’s scripts for short films such as Mister Biscuits and The Undream make him best known.
Metcalfe has worked on a number of notable projects, including as an executive producer on the HBO series Sharp Objects and The Loudest Voice. In addition, he worked on the series Kingdom as a co-producer, which was licensed for a specific period of time before being released worldwide on Netflix (the license was set to May 2021).

Executive producer Tonya Davis of Higher Ground Productions has worked on Rustin’s upcoming film, as well as We The People, Waffles + Mochi, and other Netflix originals.
As previously announced, Obama’s production company, Higher Ground Productions, is working on the project. Although they have a number of projects planned, this will be their first significant drama series for Netflix. The project also features Wild Atlantic Pictures and Wiip as production companies.

Who stars in Netflix’s Bodkin?

Will Forte (McGruber and The Last Man on Earth) will play Gilbert Power, who has been described as “an American podcaster looking for his next big story.” Gilbert’s family emigrated from Cork and he hopes to find his ancestors in Ireland.”
At the beginning of the series, Siobhan Cullen (best known for The Dry) is going through a professional crisis. “A hardened investigative journalist with a finely tuned bullshit detector and a healthy disregard for authority and hypocrisy,” her character is described.
Robin Cara (best known for her role as Kayla in Ackley Bridge) will play Emmy, a Gilbert podcast project researcher in charge of keeping things running smoothly. Emmy, on the other hand, is struggling to find her own voice.

David Wilmot will play Seamus Gallagher, a character who can turn on his charm when he needs it, but can just as quickly burst into rage when he feels threatened. Wilmot is best known for his roles in Anna Karenina and the upcoming HBO Max series We Tell Lies.
Sean O’Shea, who is described as a native of the village of Bodkin and a typical Irish country boy, is played by Chris Whalley, best known for Demeter’s Last Voyage. In addition, he is involved in some rather dubious enterprises.

Where is Bodkin in the production?

The project is set to begin June 27 and shoot in Dublin and West Cork, Ireland, according to multiple production listings reviewed by What’s on Netflix. For those who don’t know, West Cork is an outlying region of Ireland often referred to as one of the last strongholds of “old Ireland”.
An open casting call for the play was held on June 14, according to the Southern Star in Ireland. As for the seven part contemporary drama, they also mention that some of the filming will take place at Union Hall and possibly Glandore.
The remainder of the summer is expected to be devoted to production, which is expected to end between September and November 2022.
