Blue Devils Announce Signed Class of 2022

Durham – Duke Men’s Football Coach John Kerr announced the addition of 10 rookies to the Blue Devils program starting in the 2022 season.

“We are thrilled to welcome this group of talented freshmen to the Duke football family,” Kerr said. “These dynamic players give us depth in every position and bring a huge experience to play at a very high level. We look forward to working with these quality young people this fall!”

The new additions come from a rich academic and club football background as the Blue Devils look to add to a team that was ACC Coastal Division champions and advanced to the third round of the NCAA championship last season.

Kamran Akito

Alex Bonnington

before the duke: Played in the Sheffield Wednesday FC system and professional development league for both the U18s and U23s… Established a reputation as an elite goalscorer at the club, leading the team in goals over the past four seasons… Captained the U18s in 2020–21 … In 2019 was part of the U18 LFE pre-season runner-up team… Helped lead his team to victory in the Youdan tournament in 2018… Also played for his high school until Sheffield Wednesday, leading Wickersley to win the Cup four times in a row South Yorkshire from 2015 to 2018… Also helped Wickersley reach the semi-finals of the 2017 English Schools Cup.

The Blue Devils will open their season in August, with the 2022 schedule to be announced soon.
