Agganis All-Star Games – Boston Herald

Agganis All-Star Week kicks off on Sunday, June 26 with the Opening Ceremony and four of the nine All-Star Games played over four days.
The Opening Ceremony, to be held at 9:00 AM at Manning Field in Lynn, will include the 2022 Agganis Foundation Fellowships, five major awards, and the presentation of this year’s Agganis All-Stars in the following sports: Girls’ and Boys’ Lacrosse. , softball, baseball, girls’ and boys’ basketball, girls’ and boys’ soccer, and American football.
A lacrosse doubleheader will take place on June 26 at Manning Field, while softball and baseball will be played at nearby Fraser Field.
The action continues on Monday, June 27 with a girls vs. boys basketball game at Lynn Classical High School. The girls’ and boys’ football games will take place on June 28 at Manning Field. The 60th Agganis All-Star Football Game will conclude on Wednesday, June 29 at Manning Field.
The Agganis All-Star Games are held in memory of legendary athlete Lynn Harry Agganis, a Lynn Classical and Boston University All-American quarterback. He was expected to be a first-round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns, but he chose a professional baseball career and was a starting baseman for the Boston Red Sox when he died of a pulmonary embolism in 1955 at the age of 26.
Shortly thereafter, the Agganis Foundation was established to provide college scholarships in Agganis’ name. Since 1955, the Foundation has provided over $2.3 million in scholarships to 1,040 student-athletes.
