Before WandaVision and the heyday of the MCU-Disney+ television era, there were several other TV shows, whether on network channels or other streaming services, that fans could enjoy. Of course, the Marvel-Netflix series is like Daredevil as well as Jessica Jones were incredibly popular, but for a while these shows existed separately from the main MCU. That was until Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprized their roles as Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil and Kingpin, in Spiderman: No Way Home as well as Hawkeye, respectively. This immediately got fans excited to see more of these characters get the attention they deserve, with some sharing theories on Reddit as to how other formerly Netflix-owned characters could be reintroduced.
ten Keep what works, get rid of what doesn’t work
For years, the Netflix series has remained separate from the main MCU. Developments Avengers and Loki’s attack on New York was only ever referred to as “The Incident” and nothing from the show ever hit other facilities until the series’ cancellation. However, fans now expect these shows to be heavily incorporated into the franchise, especially with Daredevil receiving the fourth season on Disney+.
u / Ummmmmm_25 states, “It makes sense to just re-introduce the characters, keeping stuff from the series that the fans loved (D’Onofrio, Charlie Cox, Jon Bernthal, Kristin Ritter) and reworking the… er… less good stuff (Iron Fist).” This is something many fans agree on – even Charlie Cox’s crackdown is part of Kevin Feige’s cherry picking and Marvel Studio execs. This may mean that certain things or characters can be left alone to collect dust.
Even though all the shows are streaming on Disney+, there are still fans who don’t believe that the shows operate as part of the mainstream canon – that these shows take place on one of the alternate Earths in the multiverse. This idea also applies to shows like Shield agents or Runaways. you / scottyflamingo supports the idea, writing, “I believe the Netflix shows will be changed as temporary options.”
This would essentially allow the MCU to reboot characters and stories as part of the mainstream continuity. However, this raises a big question as to whether they really recognize these characters as variants or whether they have crossed the multiverse. Unfortunately, something like this idea could lead to an invasion of reality – though that might be their plan.
eight She-Hulk, Hero Lawyer
One of the most common theories surrounding the fates of these characters in the MCU is that some of them may be reintroduced into the upcoming Disney+ series. She-Hulk Attorney at Law. Many fans are already speculating that Cox will play Matt Murdock again, whether as an ally of Jennifer Walters Tatiana Maslany and/or against her in court.
you / JessieCatspolis88 believes that “Daredevil and Jessica Jones could be in a She-Hulk movie and end up introducing Netflix Marvel characters to the MCU. Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter, is probably at the top of the list of Netflix fans who should be returning, and given her history with Jennifer in the comics, that seems like a good idea. She could have worked as a private detective during or after the explosion, helping to reunite families. Alternatively, Foggy Nelson and Karen Page could also return alongside Matt on the show, which premieres on August 17.th.
7 echo return command
Another safe bet for some of these characters Echo. The series recently began filming and Alaqua Cox will play Maya Lopez, also known as Echo. Hawkeye. She is confirmed to be joined by Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox, reuniting the Kingpin and Daredevil together. you / yarriro says, “This echo show will have Daredevil and can be used to properly represent some Marvel Netflix characters like the Punisher or Luke Cage.”
It’s important to note that in this series, Echo leaves New York, minimizing the chance of other characters appearing to return to their hometown and reconnect with their roots. However, it will likely feature some flashbacks where she might fight against Daredevil or other members of the Defenders as part of the tracksuit mafia.
6 Colleen Wing, Iron Fist
What many fans don’t want is retribution for the Iron Fist as it was presented in Iron fist. Although the series had a large viewership, it was received negatively, with fans and critics citing the poor performance of protagonist Finn Jones and the white savior story behind the characters. As such, many agree that extra care must be taken when bringing this character back.
However, you/ghostrider8303 says there may be an easier solution: “The Iron Fist streak could theoretically just pick up where it left off. At the end of Season 2, Danny Rand was no longer the main character and Colleen Wing became the new Iron Fist.” Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing was the shining star in Iron fistso fans would love to see her again, and even better if she just becomes the new Iron Fist. Henwick actually turned down the role of Xialing in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings with the hope that she will return soon as Colleen Wing.
5 Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Iron Fist
If the MCU decides to revive Danny Rand as the only true Immortal Iron Fist instead of Colleen Wing, they may want to take a page from another character’s book. Especially now that he has access to the powerful Ten Rings, Shang-Chi honestly Iron fistDanny dreams of becoming a fighter. However, many fans still hope that the MCU’s Iron Fist can become as badass and respected as he is in the comics.
u/pansexualpastapot suggests that Shang-Chi “cross paths with Danny to teach Danny how to actually use the iron fist to its full potential. Make him the best hero.” Bye Shang-Chi 2 likely to focus on the origin of the rings – perhaps linking them to Kamala’s bracelets in Ms. Marvel as some theorize, this could still be the right place to re-introduce Iron Fist.
four Heroes for Hire
The benefit of bringing these characters back is that they can finally team up besides the Defenders. In particular, there is Daughters of the Dragon with Colleen Wing from Iron fist and Misty Knight from Luke Cage, and Heroes for Hire with the main characters of these shows. The latter could be another great way to bring Danny Rand’s Iron Fist to life.
you/lordvader1138 theorizes: “Only Iron Fist and Luke Cage were right. They were just the survivors of the Defenders and to maintain some stability in the chaos. They formed the Heroes for Hire team to solve several crimes.” Not only does this sound like an exciting way to reintroduce these heroes, but a similar Disney+ miniseries will also confirm their place in the larger MCU with a Blip or other events they missed during their TV hiatus.
3 Iron Punisher
There was a lot of concern after it was announced that these shows would be moved to Disney+ given the amount of violence and gore in them, especially in chastener. Nonetheless, moon knight as well as Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness soon continued their distinct take on action and gore. It will be interesting to see how The Punisher will work with these new parameters, whether in the third season of his show or if he appears somewhere else.
Many fans want to see him next and are wondering when he might show up. u / Lanky God says: “I find Armor Wars the most realistic because they can give him a vigilante war machine suit and then eventually in another series put him in a fisc-related game. [stuff]”. The Punisher would certainly add some unexpected spice Armored Warsand he could act as an antagonist to Rhodey, as he did in Daredevil second season – although there are a few other villain options in Armored Wars.
2 Dark Avengers
Thankfully, these series featured some of the best villains in the entire MCU: David Tennant’s Kilgrave, Kingpin D’Onofrio, and Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye. The first one will probably reappear in Daredevil fourth season as an antagonist, although he may also appear elsewhere. you / fluka writes: “There are indications that they are creating the Dark Avengers, and if there is, I really hope they bring it back, since Bullseye was the Hawkeye of the team.”
In fact, now there are more than signs like Thunderbolts the movie was just announced. The Thunderbolts were the forerunners of the Dark Avengers – they were villains who turned into anti-heroes, whereas the Dark Avengers were villains posing as heroes. Bullseye is one of several real candidates for the role of such a team in Thunderbolts.
one Hellcat and the Thunderbolts
One of the most confusing story arcs in the Netflix series was the story of Trish Walker, also known as Hellcat. Jessica Jones. She started out as a foster sister and best friend, but over the course of three seasons, their relationship deteriorates. Trish regains her powers but soon loses her mind and Jessica is forced to send her to The Raft, a super-prison featured in Captain America: Civil War.
It would be strange not to see Trish, so some fans have suggested how she can be reintegrated, with you/blackbutterfree thinking “She’s recruited and trained by SWORD in exchange for a commuted sentence and intensive care.” It would make her look like the Phantom from Ant-Man and the Waspand could mean that she is also part of the Thunderbolts, but most importantly, it could allow Trish to actually be introduced as a Hellcat.
